Terms of service

1. About us

Chestnut General Store (chestnutgeneralstore.co.uk) is run by Husk Holdings Limited, a company registered in England and Wales under number 16311422, with its registered office at Units 2-3 The Wheelwrights, Lower Green, Higham, Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk IP28 6NL. Our VAT number is GB327579664. You can contact us at hello@chestnutgeneralstore.co.uk.

These terms apply to every order you place with us. Please read them before ordering. Our Shipping policy, Refund and returns policy and Privacy policy form part of these terms.

2. Your order

When you place an order, you will receive an email acknowledging it. This is not yet acceptance. Our contract with you starts when we email to confirm your order has been dispatched. We may decline an order, for example if an item is out of stock, a price was shown in error, or we cannot verify your age or payment. If we decline, we will refund you in full.

We sell to consumers only. Please contact us about trade or bulk orders.

3. Alcohol

We sell alcohol only to people aged 18 or over. You must not buy, or try to buy, alcohol if you are under 18, or buy it on behalf of someone under 18. By ordering wine, you confirm that you are 18 or over and that the person receiving the delivery will be too. The courier may refuse to hand over alcohol and return the order to us. Alcohol is sold under the premises licence held by The Old Bridge, Huntingdon.

4. Prices and payment

Prices are in pounds sterling and include VAT where it applies. Delivery charges are shown at checkout and in our Shipping policy. We take payment when you place your order. If a price is clearly wrong, we will contact you before dispatch and you can confirm the order at the correct price or cancel it for a full refund.

5. Products

We describe and photograph our products as accurately as we can. Colours, packaging and wine vintages may vary slightly from the pictures. Where a mixed case or set contains a specific item that is no longer available, we may substitute an item of equal or higher value, and we will tell you before dispatch. You can cancel instead if you prefer.

Please read the safety and usage instructions on candles, diffusers and room mists. Never leave a burning candle unattended. Keep diffusers and mists away from children, pets and polished or painted surfaces. Check ingredient lists on bath and body products if you have allergies.

6. Delivery

We deliver to UK addresses only, as set out in our Shipping policy. Risk in the goods passes to you when they are delivered to you or to someone you have nominated. You own the goods once we have received full payment.

7. Cancellations, returns and faulty goods

You have the right to cancel within 14 days of receiving your order, and your rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 for faulty goods. Our Refund and returns policy explains how to use them.

8. Discount codes and promotions

Discount codes cannot be exchanged for cash, cannot be combined unless we say so, and may have an expiry date or minimum spend. One use per customer unless stated otherwise. We may withdraw a promotion at any time, but this will not affect orders already placed.

9. Our liability

We are responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of us breaking these terms or failing to use reasonable care and skill. We are not responsible for loss that was not foreseeable, or for business losses. Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be limited by law.

10. Events outside our control

We are not responsible for delays caused by events outside our reasonable control, such as severe weather, courier disruption or strikes. We will tell you as soon as possible and you can cancel for a refund if the delay is long.

11. Your information

We use your personal information as described in our Privacy policy.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. The terms in force when you place your order will apply to it.

13. Law and disputes

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you can also bring proceedings in your local courts. If you have a complaint, please contact us first at hello@chestnutgeneralstore.co.uk and we will try to resolve it.
